|DAY TWO: Geelong outstanding to finish second|
Winning both of its Sunday games – against Dandenong and Ringwood – Geelong finished the Under 12 Winter Championship in the strongest possible manner to earn second placing overall behind Diamond Valley on head to head.
Like Diamond Valley, Geelong won four games and lost two – both by a solitary run, one of which was to the eventual championship association.
Reports coming from coaching staff and supporters have been consistently complimentary of the Geelong squad, which balanced its onfield success with a positive, enthusiastic and engaged attitude to each other and to its opponents throughout the two-day tournament.
"Well done to all the players, who were terrific for the whole weekend and played their hearts out," said Head Coach Chris Rickard.
Geelong Baseball Association administration extends its congratulations to the players, coaches and supporters for again representing our winter league with pride and distinction.
To cap off a terrific weekend, Ben Howard was nominated by opposition coaches as the GBA Most Valuable Player. Great work, Ben!
|DAY ONE: GBA squad ultra-competitive in four games|
While weather conditions were bleak in Ballarat and Geelong, not so in Bendigo where the rain held off and the sun made a sporadic appearance for a huge Day One at the Under 12 Winter Championship.
Scheduled for a challenging four games on Saturday, the GBA side did a fantastic job in going two and two, including wins over Bendigo and Latrobe Valley and one-run losses to Diamond Valley and the undefeated Sunraysia. With Sunday games to come against Ringwood (3-1) and Dandenong (1-3), the GBA squad will be looking to continue their fine form and wind up the Winter Championships on a really positive note.

Geelong Baseball Association is pleased to announce the following squad that will contest the Under 12 Winter Championship to be held in Bendigo over 23 and 24 July.
The tournament has drawn seven teams from around the state. Each team will play each other once in a single Round Robin, with the top team declared the winner. All teams will play three games each day.
Teams are Bendigo, Latrobe Valley, Sunraysia, Dandenong, Diamond Valley, Ringwood and Geelong.
Congratulations to all players and staff on their selection. Best wishes for the series, which is bound to be another high-quality tournament with plenty of action happening for both players and supporters.
